Trump Weighs In on College Football Playoff Controversy: ‘Lets Blame DeSanctimonious!!!’

Former President Donald Trump stepped into the controversial decision of choosing Alabama over undefeated Florida State for the College Football Playoffs — by blaming Ron Desantis.
On Sunday, the CFP committee unveiled the teams to play in the season-ending four-team tournament and selected one-loss Alabama over an undefeated Florida State due to a super subjective “eye test” that ignored a gravedigging 31-yard touchdown pass to defeat a very average Auburn team just one week ago.
Trump took to Truth Social Monday morning and wrote, “Florida State was treated very badly by the “Committee.” They become [SIC] the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. Really bad lobbying effort…Lets blame DeSanctimonious!!!”
Of course, had Florida Governor Ron DeSantis inserted himself into the CFP process by lobbying on behalf of the university based in Tallahassee, Florida — where he currently resides — he’d likely have opened himself up to MORE criticism for wasting his time on such frivolities. But such is the nature of political attacks, especially by Trump. Whatever you do, it doesn’t matter; he’ll blame you.
While Trump is silly to blame DeSantis, he is right to say that FSU was treated “very badly.” As ESPN Mike Greenberg noted Monday morning, College Football jumped the shark this weekend as the subjective nature of leaving FSU, saying “college football became figure skating” because judges chose style of play is more important than wins and losses.
For me? College football is the most entertaining sport in the nation, but the sports media’s sycophancy and fear of legendary coach Nick Saban is just gross. Alabama had a great year, but they were a shell of past teams. And but for a controversial catch late in the first half that should been reversed, Georgia could have just as easily defeated Alabama and ended our national nightmare.
But at least Joe Scarborough and Kaitlan Collins are happy!
