St. Louis Cardinals designated hitter Wilson Contreras completely lost it moments after striking out in Monday night’s game.

The Cardinals hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday in Busch Stadium. In the bottom of the seventh inning — with the Cardinals leading 6-5 — Contreras faced Pirates reliever Yohan Ramirez. Contreras took a low sinker that landed in the bottom of the strike zone, leading to a called strike three.

As Contreras walked toward the Cardinals’ dugout, he turned his head back toward the home plate umpire. Although it wasn’t shown on the live broadcast, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol then said something to the umpire and was ejected off-screen. When the broadcast finished showing replays of the called strike, it switched to a shot of Marmol and Contreras exchanging words with the umpire. Contreras was seen shaking his head as if he were disagreeing with something. Suddenly, things escalated when the DH got even closer to the ump and began yelling in his face. He had to be held back by multiple coaches.

As he was escorted back to the dugout. He tossed his bat behind him in frustrating. Unfortunately, one of his own coaches was in the path of the toss and the bat hit him square in the chest.

Shortly after the bat toss, a bucket of candy was launched onto the field.
