Elon Musk Teases Sure-to-Be-‘Lit’ Twitter Board Meeting

Elon Musk is once again teasing what’s to come now that he is among Twitter’s board of directors after purchasing a 9.2 percent stake in the social media platform.

Early on Thursday, the Tesla CEO tweeted an image of himself from The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, smoking a joint. Text with the image reads: “Twitter’s next board meeting gonna be lit.”

The viral image of Musk is from a 2018 interview with Rogan in which the billionaire took a drag off of Rogan’s spliff (marijuana and tobacco). The moment has led to numerous memes and saw Tesla stock take a brief hit at the time, especially in the wake of Musk saying only a month before the act that marijuana can negatively effect work ethic. The interview took place in California, where marijuana is legal.

Musk’s marijuana tease is just the latest from the billionaire. After purchasing his piece of Twitter, Musk polled his followers, asking them if they believe Twitter currently respects free speech and even whether they’d like an edit button added. Over 70 percent responded that they do not believe Twitter respects the principles of Free Speech.

As for Musk’s poll on an edit button, Twitter’s communications team announced after the poll that the company was testing just such a feature out. They claimed the idea did not stem from Musk’s social media poll.

Musk has teased “significant improvements” to the Twitter platform, and rumors are buzzing about what he could possibly do. Conservative satire site Babylon Bee has announced they spoke to Musk shortly before his Twitter purchase. The site has been suspended from Twitter for misgendering Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, a transgender woman.

Some have also suggested Musk could reinstate other accounts, including that of former President Donald Trump. The company has pushed back at this suggestion though.

“Our policy decisions are not determined by the Board or shareholders, and we have no plans to reverse any policy decisions,” they announced Tuesday following rumors of a Trump Twitter comeback sponsored by Musk.
