Trump Skewers ‘Nasty’ Elizabeth Warren for Endorsing Mamdani: ‘She Has No Idea What She’s Doing’
President Donald Trump mocked longtime nemesis Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Tuesday, saying she is a “nasty” woman who “has no idea what she’s doing.”
The president could not control the urge to take a quick shot at Warren after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent brought her name up during a televised meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House.
Bessent said the president and his administration have taken plenty of criticism from “American Peronists” like Warren, referring to former Argentine President Juan Peron, who characterized his ideology as a “national form of socialism.”
“That’s a compliment,” Trump jumped in to mention, after Bessent said Warren has been critical.
His quip drew some laughs from the room, which included Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“She has no idea what she’s doing,” Trump continued. “She’s a nasty, horrible senator.”
He then joked, “Other than that, I like her very much.”
Bessent then mentioned Warren’s “protege,” New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani.
“I don’t even think he’s a Peronist. he’s more the—” Bessent said.
“Communist,” Trump added succinctly.
Warren has campaigned for Mamdani, who identifies as a Democratic Socialist and has campaigned on ideas like freezing the rent and free bus rides.
Trump has bestowed the nickname “my little communist” on Mamdani, and on Tuesday, during the meeting with Milei, said his ideas would scare away investors from New York City.
“If a socialist, or in the case of New York City, a communist, wins, you feel a lot differently about making an investment,” Trump said.
And the president, of course, has made fun of Warren in the past for exaggerating her Native American heritage, dubbing her “Pocahontas.” Warren, last month, criticized Trump after the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, saying if the country wants to tone down political rhetoric, it will have to “start with the president.”
