Trump Takes Victory Lap Over BBC Bosses Resigning Over ‘Doctored’ Footage: ‘They Were Caught!’

President Donald Trump did not wait long to celebrate two top BBC bosses, including Director-General and Editor-in-Chief Tim Davie, resigning on Sunday, just days after a bombshell report found the outlet “doctored” video to make it look like Trump called for violence during the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot.
The commander-in-chief took to his platform, Truth Social, to toast the occasion. He gave a shout out to The Telegraph, which reported on Monday the BBC had misleadingly edited a program to make it look like Trump told his supporters to “fight.”
Here is Trump’s full post:
“The TOP people in the BBC, including TIM DAVIE, the BOSS, are all quitting/FIRED, because they were caught ‘doctoring’ my very good (PERFECT!) speech of January 6th. Thank you to The Telegraph for exposing these Corrupt ‘Journalists.” These are very dishonest people who tried to step on the scales of a Presidential Election. On top of everything else, they are from a Foreign Country, one that many consider our Number One Ally. What a terrible thing for Democracy!”
BBC News CEO Deborah Turness joined Davie in quitting. The Telegraph reported editors for Panorama, the BBC’s longest-running investigative series, duped viewers during an October 2024 special by altering the sequence of a speech Trump gave in 2021.
“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell,” Trump is heard saying on the program.
Turness did reference The Telegraph report in her own statement, saying “the ongoing controversy around the Panorama on President Trump has reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC — an institution that I love.”
She added “the buck stops with me,” and said the report does not prove the BBC is “institutionally biased.”
