After Trump Deploys National Guard in D.C., Jeanine Pirro Declares, ‘This Is Just the Beginning’

Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, said on Monday night that President Donald Trump is just getting warmed up when using federal agents and troops in Washington, D.C.

On Monday morning, Trump held a press conference with Pirro, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and other top officials to announce the deployment of 800 National Guardsmen to the nation’s capital, in addition to ramping up the presence of federal law enforcement in the district.

The president also cited Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act and announced that he is taking control of the city’s Metropolitan Police Department. Trump said D.C. is awash in violent crime, even though it hit a 30-year low in 2024.

Trump said he is considering similar deployments in other cities run by Democrats.

Pirro appeared on that evening’s Hannity on Fox News, where she hailed the decision and promised that Monday’s actions were only the start:

President Trump has rightfully declared an emergency crisis of crime and deployed the National Guard, the ATF, the DEA, the FBI, so that criminals know now that we see them. We are watching them and we are gonna make them accountable. But make no mistake, Sean, this is just beginning. Today was, as the president called it, ‘Liberation Day. But we are now in the process of bringing to the attention of law-abiding citizens, not just in D.C., but throughout the country, that we’re not gonna tolerate crime that is out of control in the nation’s capital. This is the shining city on the hill that our forefathers talked about.

Pirro went on to call the crime rates in D.C. “horrific.”

“And understand, I’m not just a federal prosecutor, I’m the local D.A., so to speak, here for D.C.,” she added.
