Al Sharpton Fires Back at Bill O’Reilly: ‘Man Up and Grow Up’
MSNBC host Al Sharpton fired back at Bill O’Reilly on Friday morning, telling the Huffington Post that the Fox host ought to “man up and grow up.”
Sharpton’s comments were in direct response to O’Reilly’s Thursday night statement that he had once donated $25,000 to the reverend’s charity. The revelation was used as part of the Fox host’s defense against Sharpton allegedly calling him a “racist” and “brutalizer of the poor.”
The reverend told HuffPost on Friday that O’Reilly’s comments vindicate what he has been saying all along: “When Mr. O’Reilly started attacking me after my question of the Zimmerman verdict, he started talking about the grievance industry and that I was a ‘racial huckster,’ never telling people he knew better and that he was a contributor of mine,” he said. “If I was huckster, why would he contribute to me?”
Along with denying the charges that he has repeatedly called O’Reilly a “racist,” Sharpton concluded: “[O’Reilly] needs to man up and grow up because he needs to understand that just because you make a donation does not mean that people cannot disagree.”
