Andrew Sullivan On Kagan: Obama May Be Hiding The Fact She’s ‘A Real Lefty’

Andrew Sullivan, who perhaps has had more to do with the current media furor over Elena Kagan than anyone else, was on The Chris Matthews this Sunday speculating that Kagan’s lack of a paper trail may actually obfuscate the fact she is more radically left than people are presuming:

The blank slate works both ways, she may very well be more liberal than anyone believes…I think Obama is appalled by Citizens United, the 2nd Amendment ruling, these are radical moves to the right on the Court, I think Obama will have picked a real lefty, and I think he’s sort of hiding that, and I worry about the political consequences of hiding such a thing.

He also suspects that DADT will be a large issue in the confirmation hearings “because it’s all they’ve got” but that he’s “worried it may act as code for other issues.” Not if Andrew can help it, that’s for sure. Video of the segment below.
