Ari Fleischer: Totally Inappropriate to Criticize This Weak, Weak President
See if you can spot the exact moment at which former White House Press Secretary and master tweeter Ari Fleischer does what Ari Fleischer is so nobly telling people not to do. It’s reeeeeaaaaal subtle:
Scarborough: “It’s not good when Democrats do that, it’s certainly not good when Republicans do that during a time of crisis.”
Fleischer: “I’ve been saying this all along. I didn’t appreciate when people treated President Bush like that. I think people have to be realistic in their assessments. The person to blame here is Vladimir Putin. He’s the one responsible, he’s the one who did it. I think there is a case to be made that the president has, through weakness, changed the cost-benefit that Vladimir Putin would go through to decide whether to use force. That’s a legitimate issue, but it has to be discussed in the proper frame.”
See, no one’s calling the President of the United States weak, heavens no, just saying his weakness has emboldened a foreign aggressor. Totally different!
David Axelrod called Fleischer on it immediately:
“I just appreciated the taste and discretion with which Ari inserted that into the conversation. But that’s how you get to be president of Ari Fleischer Strategies.”
Okay, now we’re just being sarcastic.
