Barbara Walters Will Reportedly Retire In 2014
According to TVNewser, sources close to ABC News anchor and The View co-host Barbara Walters indicate the broadcasting legend intends to retire in May 2014.
Leading up to her official departure from the broadcast network, TVNewser reports, “ABC is expected to air a number of specials, tributes and events over the course of the next year, leading up to Walters’ formal departure.”
The sources did not seem to indicate any reasons for her planned retirement.
Walters was the first female co-host of NBC’s Today show back in 1974. A few years later, she became the first female evening-news anchor at ABC. Decades later, she co-created The View in 1997 and moderated it ever since.
