Big Surprise Guests Spotted Entering Ed Sullivan Theater for Final Letterman Show
When CBS announced the guests for David Letterman’s final run of shows as host of the Late Show, they conspicuously left out any names for the last episode, set to air tonight.
Today, we learned that Letterman’s “favorite band,” the Foo Fighters, will be performing a song on Wednesday night’s show:

And now, thanks to some tweets from fans and reporters staking out the Ed Sullivan Theater, we know a few more names set to stop by unannounced. Read no further if you want to truly be surprised.
You can expect an appearance by Letterman’s old friend Steve Martin:

UPDATE — 6:50 p.m. ET: CNN’s Brian Stelter, who was stationed outside the Ed Sullivan Theater as Wednesday’s taping let out, spoke to audience members and got some more details about the content of Letterman’s last show.
According to those in attendance, the celebrities listed above took part in a “final things I would like to say to David Letterman” top ten list. In addition, the program featured taped messages from President Barack Obama and all four of his living predecessors.
