Bill Kristol Really Doesn’t Care That Obama Used the ‘N-Word’
In an interview with Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg, The Weekly Standard founder Bill Kristol broke with many of his fellow conservatives by taking a decidedly apathetic stance towards President Barack Obama‘s use of the n-word in a recent podcast.
Malzberg set up Kristol perfectly for a smack-down. “What’s your take on the first black president of the United States choosing this time, on the heels of church shooting where a white bigot shot up a black church and killed all those people, the first day of what could be a long hot summer, the first black president of the United States goes on this WTF Show and utters the n-word?”
But Kristol didn’t bite, saying he didn’t want to “censor what other people say… If he wants to use that word to illustrate his point, obviously he’s not using it in a pejorative way, so I guess it’s fine.”
Far more important, he said, was that Obama outline exactly what proposals he believed would help race relations. “It’s a little bit like Hillary Clinton. There’s an awful lot of people going around cluck-clucking and trying to say things they think will position them in a good way, as opposed to saying what policies they’re for and what policies they’re against.”
