Bill Maher Rips Donna Brazile For Repeatedly Mispronouncing Vivek Ramaswamy’s Name: ‘A Little Racism There’
Comedian Bill Maher hit former DNC chair Donna Brazile for repeatedly mispronouncing GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s name.
During a Friday episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, ABC News contributor Brazile called on Ramaswamy to “shut the hell up and go home” because the debate stage and GOP field are too crowded in a discussion with Maher and former GOP House Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
Maher responded to Brazile’s comments by noting she was pronouncing the candidate’s name incorrectly like many others have been, and added that there might be “a little racism there” in refusing to get the name of the Republican son of Indian immigrants correct.
BRAZILE: Vivek just needs to shut the hell up and go home. I’m tired of him.
MAHER: It’s Vivek. Not that I have any-
BRAZILE: Well, whatever.
MAHER: Whatever? Would you say that about other ethno-
BRAZILE: I’m Donna. Is it Vivek Ramaswama? Ramaswamy?
MAHER: Ramaswamy.
BRAZILE: Thank you so much, I learn so much when I come on this show…Vivek? Vivek needs to go home!
MAHER: I agree. I just feel like there’s something wrong with everybody refusing to learn to say his name. I just feel there’s a little racism there.
When the host mentioned that refusing to learn his name shows “a little racism,” Brazile quickly said, “no racism” as Kinzinger joked more about the pronunciation.
“I know we don’t like him but just say his name right,” said Maher.
