Boehner on ‘Messy’ DHS Vote: ‘I’m Not Into Messy’
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) told Face the Nation Sunday morning that he overall enjoyed his thankless job, but that Friday was a “messy” exception.
Host John Dickerson’s question followed rumors that Boehner’s job was (again) in jeopardy thanks to an insurgent wing of the GOP caucus that squelched a vote on funding the Department of Homeland Security Friday night.
“Friday wasn’t a whole lot of fun,” Boehner said. “It was just messy. And I’m not into messy.”

The House’s far-right flank has repeatedly voiced dissatisfaction with Boehner, whom they feel capitulates to Democrats and President Barack Obama, especially over spending issues.
“But listen, I enjoy being in a legislative body,” he added. “I enjoy all the personalities, and I’ve got a lot of them.”
