Plane Crashes In Philadelphia – Described as ‘A Fireball That Falls Out of the Sky’
A plane reportedly crashed in northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening, killing multiple people just after 6 p.m. ET in what one local newscaster described as a “fireball” falling from the sky.
FOX 29 Philadelphia anchor Jason Martinez showed network viewers an initial doorbell camera clip of what was reported to be an aircraft careening into the ground. The aircraft went up in flames, causing damage to nearby buildings and cars.
“I can only describe that as a fireball that falls out of the sky, “Martinez said. “And again, this is Roosevelt Mall, I believe, the parking lot in northeast Philly. And this is ground video that we’re just getting in. You’re seeing it as I am seeing it, Police taping the area of smoke and debris in this area. And it’s, of course, all happening as we are still sorting through a plane crash that happened in DC. No word on the size of the plane that crashed.”
Martinez tossed to network reporter Steve Keeley, who was at a commercial area at Cottman Avenue & Roosevelt Boulevard in the city. Keeley said:
The heavy smell of jet fuel is in the air and has been in the air. There is still black smoke. The fires are not under control, a then an officer told me to take cover behind the police and fire vehicles because there’s a gas line nearby. Another commander told me cars were on fire. This was in rush hour.

So people were stopped in traffic. I don’t know if cars are on fire in front of me or parts of the plane, but it looks like multiple fires, and the fires are not right next to each other. They are a hundred yards from each other. So there was a string of damage and a string of fires.
Keely posted several updates and videos from the scene on social media.
