Brian Williams May End Up with a ‘New Role’ at NBC

 

brianwilliamsRemember Brian Williams? Well, it turns out NBC is reportedly trying to hold onto him, but in a “new role” instead of a return to the NBC Nightly News desk.

A new report today from CNN’s Brian Stelter says that NBC executives are still mulling what to do about Williams, and while one possibility is he leaves the network altogether, there is talk of a “new role” for Williams to fill.

And none other than NBC News Chairman Andy Lack is reportedly a big proponent of the idea. It’s not clear what that might entail, whether it be another role specifically at NBC News or a role at MSNBC or maybe he’ll finally get The Tonight Show.

A decision will have to come soon, because Williams is over halfway done with his six-month suspension.

Stelter spoke on the air today with Vanity Fair‘s Bryan Burrough, who wrote a very detailed inside look at the “civil war” that’s been going on at NBC News. Watch here, via CNN:
