‘Bring It On, Dude!’ James Carville Tells Democrats to Stand Up to McConnell Filibuster Threat
Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville said on MSNBC Wednesday night Democrats should not be “afraid” of Mitch McConnell.
The Senate Minority Leader railed against Democratic efforts to kill the filibuster, and said, “Everything the Republican Senate did to President Obama would be child’s play compared to the disaster the Democrats would create for their own priorities if they break the Senate.”
“How do you take the threat?” Ari Melber asked.
Carville shot back by saying McConnell is threatening to hold the country “hostage at a time of maximum need.”
“Go ahead and blow yourself up,” he continued. “We’ll go toe-to-toe, head-to-head with you.”
“I don’t think the country wants to be held hostage by Mitch McConnell. We saw what he obviously did to President Obama, to Merrick Garland. I don’t think the Democrats should be afraid of this in the least. I think they should embrace this argument, I think they should go around and talk about all the things that Mitch McConnell wants to do. He doesn’t want to get covid relief to people. He doesn’t want to tax the rich. he doesn’t want to do anything about climate. All he wants to do is this.”
He added that Democrats should basically respond to him by saying, “Bring it on, dude.”
