Bruce Jenner: ‘I’m Not Gay’

Bruce Jenner‘s big interview with Diane Sawyer tonight provided a moment for Jenner to helpfully explain the difference between sexuality and gender identity to Diane Sawyer and the viewing audience.

Sawyer asked, “Are you gay?” Jenner said, “No, I’m not gay.”

Sawyer expressed some confusion and asked, “If you were assigned male and you become female, but you become women, are you a lesbian? Are you a heterosexual who…?”

Jenner simply said that sexual identity and gender are “apples and oranges.”
