Jeb Defiant on Rubio’s Lack of POTUS Leadership Skills

Jeb BushRepublican presidential candidate Jeb Bush took a not-so-veiled shot at rival Marco Rubio on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday, saying no one knows if Rubio has any leadership skills, and that he only followed Bush’s lead as Speaker of the Florida House.

Bloomberg Politics’ John Heilemann asked Bush about comments he made Wednesday about Rubio: “Look, we had a president who came in and said the same kind of thing — new and improved, hope and change — and he didn’t have the leadership skills to fix things.”

“So I’ll be direct about this; are you saying that Senator Rubio does not have the leadership skills to fix things?” he asked.

“There were two thoughts in that sentence I had,” Bush said. “Yeah, I think I have the leadership skills to fix things and that’s my strength and that’s what I talk about. And Marco was a member of the House of Representatives when I was Governor and followed my lead, and I’m proud of that.”

“But you don’t think he has the leadership skills to fix things?” asked Heilemann again.

“It’s not– no,” Bush said. “Barack Obama didn’t end up having them, and he won an election based on the belief that people had that he could, and he didn’t even try.”
