Candace Cameron-Bure Refuses to Wear Skimpy Outfits for Dancing with the Stars

Female contestants on Dancing with the Stars are known to wear colorful, sequined, skin-baring outfits. Former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure, however, refuses to fit that mold and claims she will go for more modest attire in order to serve as a “good role model.”

Bure is a devout Christian (her brother is Kirk Cameron) is competing in DWTS Season 18, which premiered on Monday.

“The two most important things in my life are my faith and my family and I know that is what is going to get me through this competition,” Bure told dance partner Mark Ballas during their rehearsals (video below). “I’m not gonna be your sexy girl, I’m a mom of three kids so I want to look good and feel beautiful, but I will probably stay on the more modest end of costuming.”

Bure is best known for her role as D.J. Tanner, the eldest daughter on Full House. She married ex-NHL star Valerie Bure in 1996 and together they’ve had three children — daughter Natasha, 15, and sons Lev, 14, and Maksim, 12.

The former child star told Us Weekly that her ultimate wardrobe goal is to strike a “happy medium” between sex appeal and modesty. She explained to the magazine: “I won’t be the sexiest one out there. I am a mom and I want to be a good role model for my children and my husband. But I think for each dance we’ll wear what reflects the dance but in the most classy way possible.”
