CDC Director: If NBC’s Snyderman Wasn’t Sick, She Didn’t Put Anyone at Risk

CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden appeared on CNN earlier to calm public concerns about Ebola. Wolf Blitzer asked him about potential risks from NBC News’ Dr. Nancy Snyderman violating her quarantine. A freelancer working with Snyderman’s team in Liberia contracted Ebola, and the entire team had to return to the U.S. to be quarantined. Snyderman, however, broke the quarantine and had to apologize for it.

As a result of quarantine violations, the NBC team has been ordered into isolation. But Blitzer had to ask Frieden today if she “potentially put anyone at risk” by going outside.

Frieden assured that Ebola cannot be easily spread and the goal right now is containment and exposure to fewer and fewer people. That being said, he continued, “if she was not sick, she was not putting others at risk.”
