Charlie Kirk Tells Newsmax He’s ‘Profoundly Confused’ by Trump Administration’s Handling of Epstein Files
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk told Newsmax on Wednesday he felt “a little profoundly confused” by the Trump administration’s handling of documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Interviewing Kirk on his show Rob Schmitt Tonight, Newsmax host Rob Schmitt remarked, “It does seem strange that we’ve heard so much about Epstein and his connections, he knew so many powerful people, he had this weird island and this creepy stuff, and all of a sudden there’s no black book.”
Kirk responded:
Moments like this are somewhat inevitable when you have so many different components to your coalition and your base. Now, for some people, they really don’t care much about the Jeffrey Epstein thing. It’s like, “Whatever, not a big deal.” However, I could tell you, for the three types of category that people that got behind President Trump – younger voters, more libertarian-leaning voters, and those that spend a lot of time online or on the internet – they tend to be transparency advocates. The Epstein thing has been a very high priority. Here’s where I think things started to miss the mark a little bit, is that there were, by certain people that work for President Trump, high expectations made. The administration said hey, there’s gonna be a big reveal, that we have a truckload of stuff, that it’s gonna be jaw-dropping, that it’s gonna be incredible, so when expectations and reality are misaligned, that’s where people start to get disappointed. And so what happens next I think is gonna be really important. It’s gonna differentiate whether or not this is just a moment or a lasting multi-generational movement.
The Turning Point USA founder went on to argue that one of the reasons why so many people were interested in the Epstein case was because they “look at it as a bigger question of how our government operates.”
He continued, “I do want to be very clear that the transparency advocates that are younger in nature, they have been very confused, and it’s left me a little profoundly confused by just some of the administration officials that told us that there was gonna be this big reveal, Rob, and then we didn’t quite get that, and then we’re told that information doesn’t exist.”
Kirk concluded, “So look, the president, he’s working his tail off. He’s solving the Congo-Rwanda war, he’s got Iran, he’s got Israel, One Big Beautiful Bill, and I think that some clarification down the road might be very well suited.”
After the Trump administration concluded in a memo that Epstein had no “client list,” that there was no evidence the sex offender was blackmailing “prominent individuals,” and that there was no sign Epstein was murdered in his prison cell, President Trump received backlash from supporters.
Asked by a reporter about Epstein this week, Trump snapped, “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? We have Texas, we have this all of the things. Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable!”
