Chris Matthews: Dems Are ‘Coming Apart,’ It’s Every Man for Himself

As Chris Matthews put it earlier today, the Democratic Party is basically imploding and things are getting pretty chaotic in the party these days.

In talking about party differences on trade on Andrea Mitchell Reports today, Matthews said, “The Democratic Party is not unified right now, it’s coming apart. You can see it, it’s devolving. And so it’s every man for himself, every politician for themselves right now.”

And because the president is a lame duck, he added, Democrats don’t care about looking to White House leadership, they just want to “save their butts politically.” He thinks it’s a real risk to the party when they aren’t standing for any commanding or unifying principles.
