CNN Analyst: ‘Bernie Sanders Could Win the First Two Primaries’
CNN political analyst John Avlon said on New Day that it was within the realm of possibility that upstart Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders could win the first two primaries.
Avlon was asked about a new poll showing Sanders leading frontrunner Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. “The first two, Iowa and New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders could do well,” he said. “One of the interesting things for the Clinton campaign to confront is how to defeat him in one of the two.”
“Bernie Sanders could win the first two primaries,” Avlon continued. “It would be a major blow to the Clinton campaign, but not stop the run for the nomination. That’s the fascinating thing.”
Avlon explained that while Sanders winning the first two primaries would destroy the feelings of inevitability about Clinton’s nomination, she could still bounce back with a great showing on Super Tuesday.
