CNN Asks Evander Holyfield What It’s Like When an Athlete Bites You
You’d be hard-pressed to name any athletic biters off the top of your head… except for Mike Tyson. So in reaction to a World Cup athlete biting another athlete (we think) today, CNN decided to bring on not Tyson, but Evander Holyfield, the man whose ears rather infamously were chomped on by Tyson back in 1997.
Holyfield, to his credit, had a few knowing tweets after the World Cup near-Walking Dead freakout.
@rwood_SC ur right, things like that would never happen in n America! absurd!

I guess any part of the body is up for eating.

So of course CNN brought Holyfield on to weigh in on the strange World Cup biting (Luis Suarez, by the way, swears he didn’t bite the guy, his skin just got in the way of his mouth). Anderson Cooper started out with one of the best lead-ins to a question you may ever see on cable news: “As someone who’s been bitten during a sporting event…”
Holyfield described the scene at the World Cup today as “sad,” and when asked how he reacted back when Tyson bit him, Holyfield basically said yeah, no, he kind of didn’t expect the guy he was fighting to bite his friggin’ ear.
