CNN Data Guru Says He ‘Can’t Find A Single Other Person’ Who Appeals to Young Republicans as Much as Joe Rogan
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten couldn’t find any person with more appeal to young Republicans than podcaster Joe Rogan, with him more than doubling the approval rating of President Donald Trump.
Enten joined CNN’s John Berman on Thursday morning, where he dubbed Rogan the “young Republican whisperer” after Vice President JD Vance’s sit-down with the podcaster for a three-hour interview this week.
According to polling from The New York Times, Rogan’s net favorability among young conservatives — defined as 22-44 years in age and identifying as Republican, Republican-leaning, or they voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election — is +62 points. Trump, meanwhile, pulls +28 points, and conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson pulls +18 points.
Enten said:
Joe Rogan is the young Republican whisperer. What are we talking about here? Well, why don’t we just take a look at this? The net popularity with Republicans under the age of 45. Look at Joe Rogan at +62 points. He is far more popular among Republicans than even Donald Trump is at +28. And way more popular than Tucker Carlson, who, of course, also has his own podcast, at +18. If you want to appeal to young Republicans, the place you want to go to is you want to go on Joe Rogan’s podcast because I can’t find a single other person out there in the media or otherwise who is as popular with young Republicans as Joe Rogan.
Berman noted Vance is currently “cozying up” to all three of the men Enten referenced.
Rogan’s popularity also extends to disenfranchised voters who skipped out on the 2024 election. Among those voters, Rogan’s net favorability sits at +12 points. By comparison, the Democratic Socialists of America — a group that has seen numerous candidates topple party-backed Democrats in primaries — has a net approval of negative-22 points.
For voters overall, Rogan’s net approval hit +two points, while Vance pulls -11 points. Enten also noted California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who has feuded with former California resident Rogan, has a net approval rating of -19 points.
“[Rogan] doesn’t just talk to young Republicans. He talks to the disenchanted voters as well at +12 points,” Enten said. “So Rogan reaches audiences that might not traditionally listen to other media. They listen to him. They like him, especially those who are younger and those who didn’t cast a ballot in 2024.”
Berman wrapped the segment with a light jab at Rogan, arguing there is almost no risk in Vance and others doing Rogan’s podcast.
“It’s a lot of reward and not much risk,” he said. “He doesn’t exactly ask really hard questions.”
