CNN’s Smerconish: ‘Not Much of a Difference’ Between CNBC’s Debate and Fox’s

smerconishCNN’s Michael Smerconish argued this morning that on the issue of questions asked, there wasn’t that big a difference between Fox News’ Republican debate and CNBC’s.

As you no doubt have heard, the GOP collectively blew its lid at CNBC for questions that were not exactly very friendly to some of the candidates, some of which ended up giving ammunition to charges of liberal media bias.

Oh, and the RNC has suspended its partnership with NBC for an upcoming debate in February.

On New Day this morning, Smerconish told Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota that “all of the subject matter was entirely appropriate” for the moderators to ask, even if the “tonality” of some of the questions was problematic.

But after going back and looking at Fox News’ debate, CNN’s, and CNBC’s, he concluded, “If you look at the questions only, there’s frankly not much of a difference… including Fox, which is the great oracle of the RNC.”

Cuomo said that style matters, while Camerota noted how the business network veered away from economic issues quite a bit.
