Colbert Books Major GOP Presidential Candidate for First Late Show
Last week, we learned that Stephen Colbert’s first guest on the new Late Show starting this fall will be George Clooney. Now, the host has revealed that he will be joined by one of the 17 GOP candidates running for president.
No, unfortunately, it’s not Donald Trump.
Colbert tweeted the news early Tuesday morning:
.@JebBush will be on #LSSC Sept. 8! My first GOP candidate! Luckily I do 200 shows a year, so I think I can fit them all.

And Jeb Bush confirmed it with a joke of his own shortly after:
Only if you have at least two of us on each show. Looking forward to joining your first #LSSC next month! https://t.co/ECjbxV9tYa

In addition to Clooney and Bush, Colbert’s September 8 premiere will host hip hop star Kendrick Lamar, who also served as the final musical guest on The Colbert Report.
