Cuomo Guest Begins Interview by Noting, ‘I Am Currently a Criminal Defendant’ in Trump Election Fraud Case

A guest on NewsNation began her appearance by reminding viewers that she is currently a criminal defendant in an election fraud case.

Christina Bobb, who was President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, appeared on Friday’s Cuomo to discuss the FBI’s raid at the home of John Bolton earlier in the day. Bolton served as National Security Advisor in Trump’s first term, but has since become one of the president’s harshest conservative critics.

Bobb was indicted in Arizona last year in connection with a fake electors scheme stemming from Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. Seven attorneys and aides for Trump, as well as 11 Arizona Republicans, were indicted for conspiracy, fraud, and forgery. Trump is an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.

Chris Cuomo welcomed Bobb to the program and called the Mar-a-Lago raid, which turned up thousands of government documents, “a complete waste of time.” Bobb was present when the FBI executed its search warrant.

Cuomo asked his guest, “What is your take on what you went through, and what is your thought about what we’re seeing now?”

Bobb replied:

Well, I just wanna remind everybody, I am currently a criminal defendant that’s still being prosecuted for political, supposed crimes that never occurred for a state that I wasn’t in for conspiring with people that I never communicated with.

So, while I admire the outrage about how we need to, you know, lay off of our political opponents, I would respectfully ask the left to go first.

Bobb went on to call for the charges against her and others in the fake electors scheme to be dropped.

“And as for Mar-a-Lago, Mar-a-Lago occurred all throughout the day,” she added.

In June 2022, the National Archives retrieved some government documents from Mar-a-Lago. At the time, Bobb, who was then Trump’s attorney, attested to the Department of Justice that as far as she knew, no government material remained on the property. That turned out to be false when the FBI found 13,000 documents stored around the residence where “anybody” could access them.

The Department of Justice later charged Trump with retaining classified documents and obstructing the government’s attempts to retrieve them. Those charges were dropped after Trump was elected president again in 2024.

Last year, Bobb began an interview on Newsmax in a similar fashion, stating, “Well, as someone who was recently indicted myself…”
