De Blasio Announces ‘Barbara Walters Day’ in Honor of View Host’s Retirement

Barbara Walters will be marking her final day on The View on May 16th, and in honor of that today, when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio appeared on The View Monday, he announced that May 16th would be commemorated in the city as Barbara Walters Day.

De Blasio called Walters a “living legend” who has “done so much for New York City,” and presented her with an official proclamation of the date.

Walters will be getting a big send-off on her final week, with all the current and ex-View co-hosts united in the same studio, and ABC News’ headquarters in New York will be named the Barbara Walters Building.
