Dr. Nancy Takes Sharp Turn Right, Laments “Fractionization Of Our Native Tongue”
As cable news continues to cover the uprising during town hall meetings and the general feeling of discontent among many on the right, segments begin to drift in various, tangential, directions.
One of those occurred during Morning Meeting with Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC, when Ratigan led a panel discussing the rise of right wing militias. On his panel was his fellow host, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, who changed the topic to “language” – and seemed to indicate she thinks everything would be better if English was our “core language.”
So here’s the full quote from Snyderman:
One thing we never talk about in this country is language – the balkinization in the United States of America because we no longer look at English as being this core language. And I know I’m going to sound so right of center on this, but I worry that while we should engage and embrace cultures from around the world – a melting pot is what has made us strong – we have allowed a fractionization of our native tongue to the point…by saying this is how we speak. You know, you come from Wall Street. You don’t hear people with 10 or 12 different languages on the floor at Wall Street. I worry, Paul, this is one of the things we’ve allowed to become this insidious undercurrent.
She hedges her main argument with “I know I’m going to sound so right of center on this,” and continues to spout what sounds like an argument for making English the national language. If that’s really what she believes, then yes – that sounds like a very “right of center” argument. Almost “Worst Persons” material.
So is Snyderman a secret righty hiding out in left-leaning MSNBC? Maybe Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough has a new friend – or maybe it was just a poor choice of phrasing.
