Ed Schultz: Andrew Breitbart Let Opie And Anthony Do His ‘Dirty Work’

Ed Schultz, unlike some of his MSNBC colleagues, actually does think Anthony Weiner should resign. However, that doesn’t mean he has to like the driving force behind Weiner’s downfall, as last night Schultz took on “right-wing hack” and “smear merchant” Andrew Breitbart.

Schultz declared that Breitbart’s “elevation into the world of journalism lasted about one day” until Breitbart got “lucky” and the X-rated photo of Weiner got out. Despite Breitbart’s claim that radio hosts Opie and Anthony violated his trust by allowing the picture to be released, Schultz didn’t believe Breitbart for a minute. “Sure Breitbart, you just let Opie and Anthony do your dirty work,” Schultz concluded.

Later in the show Schultz also dismissed the idea that Breitbart was a journalist and thought he merely was an “unguided missile.” With pressure intensifying for Weiner to resign, and even more quickly since the release of the X-rated photo, maybe Breitbart did get “lucky,” maybe this was his plan all along, or maybe he should be taken at his word that this unconventional method for ruining his insurance policy truly was not his intention. Regardless, the mysteries and intrigue in the Weinergate saga continue.
