Ex-Trump Adviser Says Former President Should Pledge to Pardon Hunter Biden

CNN commentator David Urban, who served as an adviser on Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, said the former president should pledge to pardon Hunter Biden.

Trump will face President Joe Biden for the second consecutive election at a time when both Trump and Biden’s son Hunter Biden are convicted felons.

Last month, the former president was convicted on state charges of falsifying business records in New York. On Tuesday, the younger Biden was found guilty in federal court on three gun-related charges. Trump remains under criminal indictment in three other jurisdictions and Hunter Biden faces federal tax charges in Los Angeles.

Urban appeared on Wednesday’s edition of OutFront, where guest host Eric Hill asked about Biden’s legal woes.

“President Biden said he will not pardon Hunter Biden,” she said. “The White House wouldn’t rule out a commutation of an eventual sentence. Do you see a difference between the two?”

“I think that’s all too cute by half, Erica,” Urban replied. “You’re either gonna do it or you’re not gonna do it. Listen, what I’d like to see happen is I’d like to see President Trump come out with a statement saying, ‘Look, if Hunter Biden commits to a program of sobriety and inpatient or maybe outpatient, shows up, keeps his sobriety. I’ll pardon him.’ I’d love for President Trump to say that. It would be a magnanimous offer on his part, shows humanity, and really flip the tables on the Democrats.”

“We’ll see if he is listening to you tonight,” Hill replied.
