Fiery Sharpton Addresses Ferguson: ‘We’re Not Looters, We’re Liberators’
A fiery Al Sharpton addressed the Rally for Michael Brown Sunday afternoon and told the community to stand up for justice against what he warned would be smear attacks and calls for silence disguised as calls for peace. He also told agitators not to take advantage of Brown’s death by using the tensions as an excuse to loot.
“Don’t take advantage of their children,” Sharpton said. “There’s a difference between activists and thugs. “Don’t loot in Michael’s name. We’re not looters, we’re liberators. We are not burners, we’re builders.”
“We’re not anti-police,” Sharpton said. “But there’s a difference between calling for peace and calling for quiet. Peace means equal protection before the law. Quiet means shut up. We’re not going to shut up.”
