Former Clinton Secretary of State: I Would Never Have Allowed Private Email Server

AlbrightMadeline Albright, former Secretary of State under Bill Clinton, admitted on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that she would have never allowed an underling to operate a private email server under her tenure.

Albright expressed admiration for Hillary Clinton and said she wasn’t concerned about the Democratic presidential candidate’s growing email scandal. “I think she has explained what she’s done. She’s turned things over.”

“Your personal feeling aside, though… wouldn’t you be concerned if it weren’t Hillary Clinton, if it were some other official, if it were some other head of the State Department who was using a private email server, would that concern you?” asked NBC’s Willie Geist.

“Others had, I understand,” she responded. “But I really do think we have to figure out the technology. When I was at the State Department, we still had Wang computers. What really happens is I think our government generally has to catch up with a variety of ways of using technology.”

“If you were Secretary of State and your Deputy Secretary of State said, ‘I want to do all my email on a personal email server on a private email account,’ would you approve that?” pressed Geist.

“I would not, no,” she admitted.
