Fox News Contributor Calls to ‘Close Down’ Campuses Over ‘Obscene Antisemitism’

Fox News contributor Steve Hilton called for college campuses to be shut down in the wake of various anti-Semitic incidents around the country during an appearance on The Faulkner Focus Friday.

Guest host Julie Banderas kicked off the discussion by remarking that “college campuses have become hotbeds for Jew haters” and lamenting the new Biden administration goal of combatting Islamophobia, arguing that it was “almost turning a complete blind eye to the true hatred in this country right now.”

Hilton picked it up from there.

“Yes, it is absolutely despicable, frankly, that they should choose this moment, this moment where you have Jewish people across the country, in America, in America today, frightened to go out, frightened to wear visible symbols of their faith across the country, going back to the dark days of the 1930s and Hitler,” began the British political commentator, who went on to say that while “we don’t want to see Islamophobia,” it was “utterly despicable” to focus on that mission at “this moment.”

He continued:

Where’s the action? There’s no action on what’s going on on these campuses, frankly. Look, in the long term, I think we need to finally wake up and realize what we’ve allowed to happen under our noses as we’ve surrendered ideologically to the hard left for decades in our universities. And now we see the consequence with this absolutely obscene anti-Semitism and hate from campuses. So in the long term, we need to look at policies, for example, like defunding these places, any place that doesn’t commit to the university ideal of open inquiry, free of this ideological madness. Shut it down. But right now, there’s a real and present danger because all of this anti-Semitic hate is being amplified on these campuses. So we need to close them down now, temporarily. Send these racist, ignorant students home so they can’t amplify their hate and cause terror among our Jewish friends and neighbors.

Demonstrations against Israel have been accompanied by a number of outright ant-Semitic incidents, including the celebration of Hamas’ attack on Israeli civilians last month and the issuance of threats against Jewish students.
