Fox News Contributor Suggests Justice System Is Treating Trump Worse Than Charles Manson

Fox News contributor Marc Thiessen suggested that former President Donald Trump seems to be getting a worse deal from the justice system than notorious cult leader Charles Manson.

Trump got a reprieve on Monday when a panel of New York appellate court judges reduced the bond in his civil fraud case to $175 million from more than $454 million after he was found liable for defrauding banks and insurers. The judges also extended the posting deadline 10 days from the original date of March 25. If Trump does not post the bond by the deadline, New York Attorney General Letitia James may begin seizing his assets.

Separately, the judge in Trump’s New York criminal case set a trial date of April 15. The former president has been charged with falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to cover up multiple affairs. He is also under indictment in three other jurisdictions and faces a total of 88 felony counts to which he has pleaded not guilty.

On Monday’s episode of The Story on Fox News, host Martha MacCallum and three panelists discussed the appellate court’s decision and the reaction by some in the media.

“I noticed this morning when this started coming out, there were some long faces across some places in the media because this morning, Marc, they were all excited about what was to come,” MacCallum said. “And I don’t think they got what they were thinking they were gonna get.”

Thiessen responded by claiming that if Trump’s assets are seized, he will win November’s election.

“Well, I think they ought to be relieved because if this judgment had not been lowered, if Trump couldn’t meet it, if you want to make sure Donald Trump is elected president of the United States, go let Letitia James walk up to Trump Tower and stamp an eviction notice on the side of that building and seize it,” he said. “Even the people who don’t support Donald Trump would see it as an outrage.”

Thiessen went on to note the sheer number of criminal counts Trump is facing and said the only thing the former president is guilty of is running for the White House.

“None of this would be happening if Donald Trump wasn’t running for president,” he continued. “They’ve issued 91 indictments against Donald Trump. Charles Manson faced ten. Ok? They’ve got multiple cases trying to bankrupt him.”

MacCallum replied by noting the damages that O.J. Simpson was ordered to pay in his civil case were far less than what Trump is facing.

“I think that the analogy you make is apt joint when it comes to Charles Manson,” she said. “A hundred and seventy-five million is still what he has to come up with in 10 days for a victimless crime. And I think about O.J. Simpson in the civil trial, the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Deaths of two people in the civil trial – $30 million.”
