Fox News Host Greg Gutfeld Defends Lee Zeldin’s Slur Against AOC: ‘It’s Okay, You Can Say That’
Fox News’s Greg Gutfeld laughed while giving former congressman Lee Zeldin a pass for calling the arguments of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) “retarded.”
Zeldin appeared on Gutfeld! Wednesday night and joined the mockery of Ocasio-Cortez’s commentary about Donald Trump and his supporters. Gutfeld turned to Zeldin and remarked, “She can happily psychoanalyze and sexualize groups of people, but if you do it to her, she becomes a victim.”
“Yeah, and 100 percent of the time, if you go after her, it is because of whatever biographical demographic information she wants to throw out,” Zeldin said.
He then regaled Gutfeld with a story of his disdain for the congresswoman when she used a hearing about the Keystone XL pipeline to ask the bank CEO if they would accept liability over environmental damages from supporting the project.
Zeldin said he was tempted to interrupt his colleague to say, “Should the company that manufactured the microphone she’s speaking into be liable for the crap that’s coming out of her mouth right now?” Imagining Ocasio-Cortez would’ve claimed victimhood over that, Zeldin then said, “No, it’s because the argument that you’re making every day, all the time, is just too often retarded.”
As the studio reacted to Zeldin’s use of the word, which is considered a slur, Gutfeld cut in to say, “Yeah. You can say that now. It’s okay, you can say that now. You can say that word.”
“Wait, what? Don’t play with me! It’s one of my favorite words,” said Tyrus, which drew laughter from Gutfeld.
“It’s now acceptable,” Gutfeld continued. “It’s now acceptable. I met with the associations, and they said yes.”
This segment came on the day following Gutfeld’s bizarre sexualization of Ocasio-Cortez, when he said on The Five that her support for immigrants is tied to “her secret desires for young, virile men who are coming here in droves.”
