Fox News Panel Roasts Trump Over ‘Tacky’ Oval Office Makeover: ‘I Can’t Get Health Insurance’ So ‘I’m Not Really Thrilled’
President Donald Trump received a roasting from some Fox News panelists on Monday night after showing off his gold-heavy renovations to the Oval Office.
On Fox News’ Gutfeld!, guest host Tom Shillue pulled up a Trump post to Truth Social where he showed off the gold he’s added to the White House.
“Some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House,” the president wrote. “Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, ‘freak out’ when they see the quality and beauty. Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!”
“I’m a little concerned, though, that people are going to misread this and think that the president likes to brag,” comedian Jim Norton joked, cracking up the panel.
The former Opie and Anthony co-host argued the video showed how “funny” Trump is, but it leaves a little to be desired for people dealing with today’s economy.
He said:
This is why Trump is really funny because this whole thing is a response to people criticizing. There was a criticism of one of the things hanging in the Oval Office where they said, oh, it looks it was from Best Buy, like they were trying to match it to some like cheap store, saying it wasn’t real gold. And I think that he probably saw that and it annoyed him and he wanted to clarify. No, no, this is indeed real gold. But I mean, I can’t say I’m psyched about it. I mean, I don’t have-, I can’t get health insurance through SAG [Screen Actors Guild]. I’m not really thrilled that there’s real gold in the Oval Office.
Shillue pointed to the video as “why so many elites hate” Trump and his bragging style, but also agued it’s the reason his supporters love him. Kat Timpf also argued the video plays into Trump’s appeal, declaring no one thinks the president should be a “humble” person without “ego.”
Fox News anchor Julie Banderas defended Trump for embracing his “style,” but said she personally thought yellow gold is just “tacky.”
She said:
I love it because it’s his money. It’s not like he’s going in and dipping into taxpayers’ money like every other former Democratic president has. He’s actually spending his own money. I personally would have preferred white gold or platinum, but I’m not going to criticize him because I know he likes yellow gold. you know, and I, you know, but I mean, I think it’s an interesting touch. I don’t — I’m not a fan of this, I have to say, like all the gold on the Trump buildings, I don’t like it. I think it’s tacky.
Banderas added, “It’s his style. I don’t care. If you want a gold toilet bowl to take a crap in, go for it.”
