Fox’s Kat Timpf Recalls Jimmy Kimmel’s Sister Telling Her To ‘F**k Off and Die’ as She Defends Late Night Host
Fox News contributor Kat Timpf recalled Jimmy Kimmel’s sister telling her to “f**k off and die” as she was defending the late-night comedian following his indefinite suspension.
On Fox News’ Gutfeld! on Thursday, Timpf admitted she could easily have personal reasons to want Kimmel off the air, but argued against his suspension and red-flagged comments made by FCC Chair Brendan Carr just hours before ABC announced Kimmel’s show was on indefinite hiatus.
“The FCC is actually not supposed to be engaging in the nuances of content moderation. Its scope is supposed to very narrow. I’m not sure that the public interest statute has ever been interpreted this way. And I also think the statute in itself is too broad, as narrow as it is,” Timpf said.
Carr took issue with comments Kimmel made about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk not long before ABC announced their decision.
“Frankly, when you see stuff like this, I mean look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” he said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
ABC announced Kimmel’s suspension after Nexstar, which owns dozens of the network’s affiliates, said they would preempt Kimmel’s show for the foreseeable future. Broadcast group Sinclair has also called for an apology and more.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said on the broadcast in question.
Critics pounced on the comedian, noting that Utah officials have already detailed the far-“leftist” indoctrination of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who is now facing murder charges over the shooting of Kirk.
On Gutfeld!, Timpf recalled a not-so-great interaction with Kimmel’s sister, but she wasn’t letting that influence her opinion now.
She said:
I’m a not a Democrat. I’m certainly no fan of Kimmel. I hated his comments yesterday… I thought that they represented just a stunning lack of touch with reality. And also on a personal note his sister once told me to — and I quote — f**k off and die. So I do have a lot of personal reasons why maybe you think I would be cheering this but I’m not. I mean, I’ve long said I think the FCC has an undue influence on speech and having the head of the FCC say on a podcast that this should be shut down, that’s an arm of the federal government saying that, saying we can do this the easy way or the hard way, bothers me.
Timpf noted that Nexstar is looking to complete a merger that would need FCC approval, potentially giving more weight to Carr’s comments. She acknowledged a “hypocrisy” element to the suspension, but said she does not support suppressing speech, no matter which side is in charge.
She argued:
I also understand the frustration with the hypocrisy. A lot of people who are saying, this is all free speech, How dare you? They had no problem with the Biden administration’s attempts to quell free speech, whether that’s the disinformation governance board or the things they were doing with private social media companies. That’s not me. I had problems with those things too. I also don’t really have to I wonder if Kimmel would have the same take on my own cancelation. I’m pretty sure he would not. I feel confident in saying that he would not, but again, the bottom line for me is you shouldn’t want the government to have this kind of power over speech even if it’s speech you absolutely hate because it could then use that power against you.
Timpf did not reveal the reason Kimmel’s sister made her comment, but did explain on X that it was a “misunderstanding.”
“Jimmy Kimmel’s sister also once told me to ‘f**k off and die’ over a mistake that was a misunderstanding, which I’d already felt awful about and apologized for,” she wrote. “But this isn’t about politics or personal feelings; it’s about the FCC engaging in content moderation — and I’m still the same free speech absolutist as I’ve always been.”
