George Bush Speaks After Election: ‘Anger Shouldn’t Drive Policy’
Former President George W. Bush has avoided much public comment on politics since he left office, but he did offer some brief comments in a speech at the George W. Bush Presidential Center about elections and “anger.”
Bush made it clear that he has no interest in criticizing his successors (and for now, President Obama has refrained from saying anything critical about Donald Trump).
But the 43rd president did say, “I understand anger, and some people might have been angry when I was president, but anger shouldn’t drive policy. What should drive policy is what’s best for the people who are angry.”
According to The Texas Tribune, Bush also pushed back against what Trump has been saying about America’s bad trade deals
