George Pataki: ‘I Know I Can Beat Hillary Clinton’
In an exceedingly long list of Republican presidential candidates, former New York Governor George Pataki is just about at the bottom of the heap. He’s been out of elected office for nearly a decade and — along with Rick Santorum — isn’t even registering in the latest Quinnipiac poll.
But despite all of that, Pataki told Fusion’s Jorge Ramos, “I know I can beat Hillary Clinton.”
Pataki cited his appeal to independents, moderates, Democrats and the Latino community for his three gubernatorial victories in New York in 1994, 1998 and 2002. While those constituencies could help him in a general election, he has a massive hill to climb in the Republican primaries and at this point is unlikely to make the 10-person cut-off for the first debate.
