Gingrich: Anybody Other Than Clinton Would Be Indicted for Foreign Donations

Longtime Clinton sparrer Newt Gingrich battled Clinton defender Donna Brazile on This Week Sunday morning over new accusations that Hillary Clinton exchanged favorable treatment from the U.S. State Department for donations to her husband’s Clinton Foundation. Gingrich argued that anybody other than Clinton would be under indictment for what was essentially foreign bribery.

“If it wasn’t Hillary Clinton, this would clearly be a federal offense,” Gingrich said. “They took money from foreign governments while she was Secretary of State. That is clearly illegal. It’s dangerous to America to have foreign governments get in the habits of bribing people who happen to be the husband of the Secretary of State or the next President.”

Brazile argued that this was all politics. “This is more pulling up the curtain to see if there’s any there there,” she said. “The more you put out, the more you distract from the message, and the more you give Republicans fodder. That’s all they want. Republicans just want to about Hillary and Bill Clinton, they don’t want to talk about the issues.”
