‘Good Luck With That!’ Karl Rove Shares One Key Number to Rain on Zohran Mamdani’s Parade
Fox News’ Karl Rove shared one key figure to rain on Zohran Mamdani and the Democrats’ parade during an appearance on America’s Newsroom Thursday.
Mamdani submitted to an interview with Fox’s Martha MacCallum on Wednesday, during which he took the time to address President Donald Trump directly.
“I want to take this moment, because you spoke about President Trump, and he may be watching right now, and I just want to speak directly to the president,” said Mamdani before diving in:
I will not be a mayor like Mayor [Eric] Adams who will call you to figure out how to stay out of jail. I won’t be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own.
I will, however, be a mayor who is ready to speak at any time to lower the cost of living. That’s the way I’m going to lead this city. That’s the way the partnership I want to build not only with Washington, D.C., but with anyone across this country. And I think it’s important because too often the focus on the needs of working class Americans, working class New Yorkers are put to the side as we talk more and more about the very kinds of corrupt politicians like Andrew Cuomo that delivered us into this kind of crisis.
“Karl, what do you think about his [Mamdani’s] candidacy?” Dana Perino asked Rove on Thursday after playing the clip of the mayoral favorite.
“Well, Faiz and I are in support of his candidacy for different reasons,” replied Rove, referring to his Democratic interlocutor. “I think it’s going to be terrible for the Democratic Party to have as a symbol of their future, the mayor of New York who says free busses, and free this, and free that, and weird stuff on the left. This is not going to sell in Texas. It’s not going sell in most of America. In flyover country, they’re not going to respond well to either AOC running for the U.S. Senate, or Mamdani becoming mayor of New York.”
Then he went in for the kill:
And let’s remember, all this talk about enthusiasm, New York has 4.7 million voters, 3.1 million of them are Democrats. Mamdani won 15% of the registered Democrats turned out and voted for him, and 10% of New York voters voted for him in the primary season. So really, this guy has got a lot enthusiasm? One out of every six Democrats voted for him in the city of New York and he’s supposed to be the guy who’s going to energize the Democrats for the future? Good luck with that! There’s going to be a counter reaction to him as mayor of New York if he governs like he’s been campaigning by promising all this free stuff, and a government takeover, and anti-wealth, and so forth.
