Green Day Explains Anti-Trump Chant at AMAs: ‘Good Start to Challenge Him’
A few days ago during the American Music Awards, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong went into an impromptu chant of “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!”
The chant got a lot of attention, and when Green Day was on The Late Late Show last night, James Corden asked them about it.
Armstrong said it was inspired by the MDC lyric “No war, no KKK, no fascist USA” from “Born to Die.”
He told Corden that they’re “just as much in shock as everybody else is” about Trump’s win, saying that the chant was a “good start to challenge him on all of his ignorant policies.”
MDC’s Dave Dictor told Rolling Stone he approves of the lyric change and has concerns to about the “very dark road” America’s going down.
