Greg Abbott Fires Back After Dem Firebrand’s ‘Governor Hot Wheels’ Remark: ‘Nothing to Sell But Hate’

Texas Governor Greg Abbott dismissed Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) derogatory jab at him and blasted her party for having “nothing to sell but hate.”

Crockett’s comments at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles drew immediate fire, after she referred to him as “Governor Hot Wheels” – apparently mocking his disability.

“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there!” said Crockett. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess.”

Abbott, who has used a wheelchair since 1984 — when a tree fell on his back in a freak accident — responded to the remark on Fox News’ Hannity late Tuesday.

“It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats,” Abbott said to host Sean Hannity. “The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red.”

Abbott continued to outline his state’s successes and concluded: “The bottom line is Republican states like Texas are leading the way and with comments like this by Democrats we will just leave them in the dust in future elections.”

As criticism mounted, Crockett claimed on X that her comments had nothing to do with Abbott’s disability and offered an alternative explanation.

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors,” she wrote. “Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries.”

But Republicans aren’t letting it go.

Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) has introduced a censure resolution, calling the remark “discriminatory in nature” and part of a “continued series of inappropriate comments.”

Indeed, as Mediaite’s Charlie Nash reported, Crockett has a history of mocking Abbott’s disability.
