Hannity Says Dining Out in New York Was ‘Hard’ Because People ‘Hated Me’

It’s safe to say that Sean Hannity doesn’t miss living in New York.

For years, the Fox News host complained about the city before he finally bolted for Florida in January 2024. On Tuesday’s Hannity, the host reiterated his reasons while he sparred with former Mayor Bill de Blasio over Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani.

“Look, I’m perfectly fine with Mamdani winning,” Hannity said. “You wanna know why? Because it’s not gonna impact my life. I left New York. You know why I left New York? High taxes, quality of life, crime. I had a hard time going to a restaurant in New York City because people would stare at me and hated me and they had daggers in their eyes. You know what? I’m loved down here in Florida. Now, I don’t know why New Yorkers are so intolerant, but that was my life in New York. So I left.”

De Blasio responded by making a crack about Hannity leaving because of embattled New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman.

“No, I like Brian Cashman, actually,” Hannity responded. “I think he’s a pretty good guy.”

In January of last year, Hannity revealed to listeners he had left New York and was broadcasting from a studio in Florida.

“But we are now beginning our first broadcast of my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida,” he said at the time. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished. New York, New York, goodbye. Florida, Florida. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. But it’s great to be here.”
