Harris-Walz Campaign Spox Dismisses Putin Saying He ‘Supports’ VP in Election: ‘They Prefer Donald Trump’
A spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign insisted Russian President Vladimir Putin prefers former President Donald Trump in this election following Putin saying his supports the current vice president.
Ian Sams joined Kasie Hunt on CNN This Morning on Thursday and rejected the supposed support from Putin.
Putin said this week in front of an audience that Harris’s laugh is “effective and infectious” and said Russia prefers for her to get elected following President Joe Biden dropping from the race.
“As for the favorites, there is no need to define that,” Putin said. “It is a choice made by the people of America in the end. I’ve said that our so-to-say favorite was the acting president, Mr. Biden. He’s been taken out of the race, but he advised all of his supporters to support Mrs. Harris. That’s what we’ll do.”
Sams rejected Putin’s statement and any “foreign interference” in the election following the Department of Justice announcing that multiple Russian companies, under the direction of the government, were using domains and media investments to “covertly spread Russian government propaganda with the aim of reducing international support for Ukraine, bolstering pro-Russian policies and interests, and influencing voters in U.S. and foreign elections.”
“I think everybody knows who dictators and bullies around the world prefers in this election. They prefer President Trump. We reject the kind of divisive, dictatorial leadership that are being offered from people like President Putin,” Sams said.
The spokesperson insisted Putin supports Trump no matter what he says in public.
“I’m not going to play too much psyops with the Russian president here on your show this morning, but I think anybody’s who has been paying attention for the last decade knows where President Putin stands in the election and who his preferred candidate is, regardless of what he may say,” he said.
