Head of Phoenix Islamic Center: Rally Using First Amendment as ‘Cover for Racism’

 

phoenix center headThe president of the Islamic Community Center in Phoenix, where an anti-Islam/free speech rally is taking place, spoke with Wolf Blitzer tonight about how the Islamic community is reacting to the rally.

Usama Shami said they don’t feel “intimidated,” but are a little concerned, as well as surprised by the large media presence at the center.

The ex-Marine organizing the rally said he’s just standing up for his First Amendment rights. In response, Shami said, “He’s using the First Amendment as a cover for bigotry and racism, and to use the First Amendment as hate speech.”
