House Republican Says Melania Trump Should Be Considered for Peace Prize Because ‘She’s Been Very Instrumental’ in Russia Talks

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said it is high time that First Lady Melania Trump be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Luna said President Donald Trump should also be considered. The president has been angling for the award in recent weeks and has dubiously claimed he ended six wars in six months.

The congresswoman appeared on Fox News on Friday night, where she said the Trumps should get serious Nobel Peace Prize consideration.

“Look, President Trump just secured a win with some of the largest tax cuts in history,” Luna told Charlie Hurt. “Not to mention, he’s going to be capping prescription prices.”

Luna then echoed a misleading claim about monks in Cambodia nominating the president for the Peace Prize.

“And also, he’s continuing to broker world peace, so much so that literally hundreds of monks have nominated him, including world leaders, for the Nobel Peace Prize,” she continued.

“Do you think that the Nobel Peace Prize committee people will actually come around?” Hurt asked. “At some point, I guess maybe they need him more than he needs them.”

“Most certainly,” Luna replied. “If the Nobel Peace Prize committee knows what’s good for them, they’d do the right thing and nominate [sic] him. But also, too, I think that Melania Trump might also have a nomination. I think that she’s been very instrumental in discussions with Russia. And also, too, I think that she’s going to be a key reason why we’re able to broker peace with Ukraine.”

Earlier this month, the First Lady wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin in which she spoke of “protecting the innocence” amid his ongoing war against Ukraine.

The president has said he is seeking an end to the war and met with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky separately this month. On Thursday, Russia launched deadly drone and missile strikes on Kyiv, killing at least 23 people.
